Forgiveness

It is said that forgiveness is a gift you give yourself, which is true and false.
We free ourselves by seeing whatever damage that was done, as a part of us.
Something within ourselves that we hid away,
which needed such an experience to allow us to go deeper
into our hearts of hearts to choose yet again,
whether to open or close that deeper inner space.
When we choose forgiveness, we open ourselves up to a larger part of being.
We no longer see ourselves as the victim or the other as the enemy.
We no longer give anger away, for we now understand,
that we also receive angers poison when we give it.

In this duality, we recognize the perpetrator as the fated teacher.
The one who dealt the most damage and at the same time,
gave us the greatest gift imaginable.
Though unseen at the time,
we now look back and see that without this fated interaction,
we would not have seen our blind side and they would not have seen their heart.
