Mortar and Pestle

It used to be about leaving home and creating my own chapter in life.

Making a name for myself, get married, have children and land.

But in the past nine years, I found myself much like the spices at the bottom of a mortar and pestle.

Odd analogy, isn't it? Yet quite fitting.

For those unaware, a mortar and pestle is a stone bowl and grinding tool.

Often used for grinding down various herbs and grains.

In this case, my grinding down period left me without seeing my family aside for two times in those nine years.

And now I find myself visiting family, seeing how far I've come and developed.

How easy it is to become so focused on the one thing that ultimately becomes one of the catalyst's for your own unique self.

And, once ground to fine paste, you discover what your unique paste is for upon returning.
