She Wore Red

She wore red

pearls and little six-inch heels.

She took a cab downtown to her local dance studio

She smiles, lips red.

Music begins to play as her feet carry her onto the dance floor

Partner in hand, a dimming of the lights

Swinging ~ Swaying ~ Spinning

a gentle tossing into the air.

The night has begun, laughter mixing with the liveliness of the music

Men's bowties loosened to match the delight bouncing off the room.

Wallflowers never last long in this environment,

all hesitation fades away when eyes meet and a cheerful hand grabs another.

There is something for everyone here,

whether in the band or on the floor.

It's as if you've entered another world,

one glued together in melody.

Something deep inside we all know takes over

and not a care in the world outside of right now matters.

She wore red

pearls and little six-inch heels

She smiled, lips red.
